Corpus frame

The corpus applies one lens to many domains: what mechanisms produce the outcome? It shares four methodological commitments and one explicit directional commitment. Each linked page argues for its part; the links are derivations and disputes, not evidence inherited by every page. The directional commitment does not by itself settle system boundary, distribution, sacrifice, or institutional authority.

  1. Mechanisms are what act. Incentive gradients, selection pressures, feedback loops, and capital stocks produce the distribution of outcomes. Wonder is introduced as the compass, then defined as true, novel, elegant, and meaningful firing together. Two paragraphs later, feeling wonder is confirmation that you are creating in a way that is true, novel, elegant, and meaningful.

That is the same list twice. A compass defined as the destination cannot tell you that you have arrived. If the four properties are what wonder is, they are not what it detects.

Then this is a signal, not a rename, only if wonder can fire while you are net-negative, or fail to fire while you are net-positive.

The false positives on the page are accomplishment and excitement — Ponzi, cancer, industrial expansion. Wonder is set aside as the thing that cannot be fooled. I do not see what a false reading of wonder would look like. If there isn't one, "trust that recognition" is a definition, and the thermodynamic report is doing no extra work.

Parasite, Autotroph, Syntrope are applied to cells, people, companies, empires, and mesa-optimizers. The page says the measurement is not joules. Then cancer, Tokugawa Japan, and heat death all sit on those same three words as if they were one quantity.

They are not. The labels are grouping work the physics has not earned.

Cancer is the page's own case of complexity that does not count. Cells making more cells is a net increase in organized structure. It gets filed as not Syntrope because it eats the host, or will not last, or is extraction in disguise.

So the live test is host-effect or sustainability, not "more organized complexity." The three-state table has no column for that. Once you need a second count, "same physics at every scale" is using one word for two measurements.

At personal scale, "the same job, same habits, year after year" is listed as Autotroph. The diagnosis section then recodes that life as slow parasitism: skills rust, health slides, relationships thin.

Tokugawa Japan is allowed 250 years of stasis as Autotroph, no growth, no collapse.

If a person cannot sit in equilibrium because bodies age, the personal taxonomy is two states, not three. If they can, the diagnosis is overreaching on the opening case. Same word, different rule by scale.

The entropy section says parasites accelerate heat death and syntropes fight it. Later the page says this is not about joules or ATP.

Local order still dumps heat. If the bill is not energy, heat death is a sermon. If it is energy, building order does not slow heat death. Either way that section is not the same physics as organized complexity of capabilities and relationships.

One of the four is "meaningful: coordinated with something larger than yourself." That is a membership test sitting inside a nervous-system detector.

True, novel, and elegant can fire on a hypothetical proof nobody else will see. If that is not wonder, the fourth slot is doing the work and it is not thermodynamics. If it is wonder, "larger than yourself" is optional and should not be in the signature.

Pleasure and excitement are already set aside as things that can destroy you. That split does not show the four coming apart from each other.

Until true, novel, elegant, and meaningful can fail separately, "all four fire" is one glow with four names. I do not know which of them the compass actually needs.

The ignition list is learning a hard skill, making something, pushing the body, a long conversation. Those often grow capability. They are also the ordinary conditions for flow and for bonding.

A hypothetical hard game that ends when you close it, or a conversation that does not leave a structure, would still produce that ignition feeling. The thesis needs the feeling to be a report about net creation of organized complexity. Engagement is a different quantity that will light up the same examples.

The evolutionary story is doing identification work. "Evolution equipped you with a detector" of net complexity creation. A detector selected for local skill, status, attachment, or novelty would still light up while someone inside the page's decaying-empire parasite is learning, lifting, and bonding.

If that reading is allowed, the personal compass and the same-physics-at-every-scale claim are different instruments. If it is not, the feeling is being scored after the physics, not reporting it.
