The Enlightenment inheritance of equality, dignity, and rights after cosmological shatter is a degradation path. If those intuitions remain the claimed purpose of liberal institutions, telos did not vacate at the shatter; the advertised derivation did. Justification-failure and count-as-control can come apart.

Prediction-earned priestly authority and correction that does not threaten purpose are a tradeoff, not an architectural error you can patch. Heresy as true-but-disintegrating is the same trade. Augustine's off-ramp is named as not taken, not shown as a working third design.

Cosmological shatter, Bentham as filler, and GDP/QALY/safety as controls are not the same century. Nation, progress, class, and empire were thick purposes after Galileo and Darwin. If they governed, vacancy is the wrong date for why bureaucracies default to what they can count.

If 19th-century purposes governed, Christianity is at most a remote condition. "Meaning voids faster than replacements gain legitimacy" fails if nation and progress did gain legitimacy and were exhausted on later clocks. Keeping the bundle as it was, a 20th-century counting bureaucracy may still appear.

Nation and progress were already countable fillers (population, territory, output) once cosmology stopped answering. GDP is a later bandwidth upgrade, not a new occupancy. Vacancy can stay dated at the shatter if "vacant" means untied from cosmology, not "no purpose language in use."

Rome as written is scale making counting attractive, not a load-bearing paradigm whose correction became costly. If Rome is in the family, the family is counts-eat-substrate, which does not support "correcting the cosmology could delete the purpose" as the shared mechanism.

Aztec instantiates cosmology-to-metric; Rome instantiates scale- to-metric. Those are two families glued by a caption. Christianity-as-Western-implementation only works if the West is on the Aztec path. The Roman row is evidence against that identification.

"Acted through the vacancy it created" makes co-causes unable to lose: counting states confirm the medium, their absence confirms missing vacancy. No specified row of industry-plus-measurement without vacancy producing proxy governance, or failing to.

The discriminating split is counts as tools versus counts as purpose. Until one row exists where thick purpose is still named and industry and measurement are present, the Christian shatter is not doing identifiable work next to measurement technology.

Science is the recommended architecture (loyalty to method, not model) and already allocates by countable proxies while truth is the omitted substrate. Decoupling purpose from falsifiable cosmology does not, by itself, keep counts from running the budget. The repair is missing the allocation half.

Newton-can-retire is identity under model change, not grant allocation. Section VI specifies the cosmology half. Distinct authorities for meaning-making and metric-tracking is gestured at but not shown in the lead specimen. The design implication is underspecified, not false.

The comparative cases recode Christianity as one implementation of a family. The title, "original sin of history," and "an architectural error made two millennia ago" still treat it as the founding event. If the contribution is the three configurations, the opener has to recode or the cases are decoration.

Section IV is already the recode. The leftover is the first question: "unusually vulnerable" plus a two-millennium date still wants a unique founding error. Those frames are not the same claim. Aztec and Roman rows are other failures, not a contrast class of load-bearing religions that did not vacate.
