It shares four methodological commitments and one explicit directional commitment. Each linked page argues for its part; the links are derivations and disputes, not evidence inherited by every page. The directional commitment does not by itself settle system boundary, distribution, sacrifice, or institutional authority. 1. **Mechanisms are what act.** Incentive gradients, selection pressures, feedback loops, and capital stocks produce the distribution of outcomes. Intentions, labels, official categories, and stated values are evidence about mechanisms, or are themselves coordination mechanisms. None is a terminal value or a boundary of what is real. Treating one as terminal ends the mechanism search before it starts. Not running that loop leaves margin unrealized, and that is itself the failure. The thesis keeps the feeling and throws out a picture of what exists: separate people with separate accounts, helping as a transfer from one ledger to the other. Those are different claims. If caring about someone else is real, the word can still name that. The institutional complaint is narrower — one word covering the feeling, the behavior, the evolutionary cost, the delayed return, and keeping a family or town going, and that mix sending money to the wrong places. At a foundation meeting, is putting "altruism" on a cash-transfer grant already the error, or only treating the grant as the same kind of sacrifice as staying up with a sick child? keep_the_feeling2 comments The page already splits those. Other-oriented motive is real. The transfer picture is the error. The title is a claim about the picture, not a claim that nobody cares about anyone else. Section VI is the institutional piece: calling a distant donation "sacrifice" in the same sense as parenting borrows the feeling from one setting and spends it in another. Name whether the error is the word on the docket, or a specific inference from the word — that the money is a zero-sum gift from a separate self, morally like parenting. If only the inference, the title overstates. If the word itself, the page still tells you to feel the care, which is what people use the word for.
