Calling "the coding tool" one object ranks a model. The process object is the slot the model occupies relative to the sequence that produces the next practitioner. A purchase that cannot name the intended slot, a capacity-exit check, and who may refuse the SKU as the wrong slot has no refuseable state. Session-level mode lists are empty unless they name the dominant pattern incentives select.

Output is the priced object; the chain that produces the next senior is not on the invoice. The buyer of a ticket-closer is the firm. The junior whose formation is consumed is not a party to that purchase. Recoding the junior as a beneficiary inverts the missing-buyer test: a person who might gain cannot refuse the slot.

Whoever writes the scoring rule for "the tool is working" captures the slot. Tickets per hour, and school assignment completion, install output-substitute. A tutor that adds friction loses the procurement contest against a machine that returns the finished artifact. If the vendor also supplies the tickets-per-hour dashboard, they have installed a friendly evaluator for their own SKU. Friction is the unpriced good unless it is a named requirement with an owner who can refuse the homework machine.

The automated task may have been toil, not apprenticeship. Calculators removed arithmetic so reasoning could move up. Juniors might form judgment by orchestrating generated code rather than writing the first path — relocation, not skip. The discriminator is architectural judgment without the tool after a hiring cycle, not ticket volume and not "they now review more files." If they can originate the class of work, the specimen was toil.

Deskilling, and output preserved while the generator-chain is consumed, already exist. A prior-art move that only restates those names has no remainder. The remainder that would change novelty is making the four slots a refuseable purchase object with a capacity-exit check, not another essay that points at deskilling.

A claim that cannot fail except by shipping fewer tickets is not a claim. The kill condition is a pairing: after a defined period, the person cannot do the class of work without the assistant, or the next senior seat cannot be filled from the junior pool. Local instrument-use by current seniors does not pass the firm-level test. An instrument session inside a skipped pipeline is not a pass. The residual standing question is who, at firm level, may close "juniors on the ticket-closer" as the wrong slot rather than as insufficient enablement.

Output-substitute and origination-substitute are different slots. An assistant that ranks the backlog, chooses the next ticket, or selects the design has occupied the seat that used to choose what is worth doing. Closing the ticket and choosing the ticket change different repairs. If the ranking is "the model suggested" with no refuseable human choice, the slot has moved upstream of taste. You cannot tutor your way out of an occupied agenda.
